From leading ecology aspects with Environmental Impact Assessment, to pre-planning analysis, full planning delivery including responding to the requirements of biodiversity net gain and species-specific surveys – through to operational management planning and monitoring, for sustainable long-term habitat enrichment and management.

We offer an innovative and powerful, hybrid service for specialist species detection, through our professionally trained and LANTRA certified conservation dog search capability – working to Natural England’s adopted and emerging search methodologies in concert with our ecologists.

This leading-edge service is offered exclusively to Lanarca’s retained clients, responding to the need for minimally invasive, fast, proven and accurate detection and monitoring of protected species. This aspect of our service is tailored ideally for large and very large scale sites, delivering programme and cost benefits through rapid expert presence and absence detection.

We provide comprehensive assessment of the ecological baseline of our clients’ sites including habitat classification and recommendations for detailed species surveys. Comprehensive ecological considerations are brought to light early in the process, not only to allow survey windows to be taken advantage of, but to ensure solutions are designed in, which respond to client needs and allow mitigations. Our practice is to adopt avoidance, offering alternative approaches in the design process wherever possible, and we ensure that practical but sensitive mitigations are always in focus.

Jack South leads our conservation dog detection services, working closely with leading sector partners, to ensure we are always able to offer the widest, most innovative and effective range of proven search services, and detailed reporting.

Species surveys
Species surveys

Experienced and knowledgeable teams lead species surveys including across the full range of protected species. Our in-house team and trusted ecology partners provide survey experience on bats, breeding birds, botany, great crested newts, mammals, reptiles and more, to provide an honest picture of the ecological sensitivities of a site.
